REMEMBER- War of the Son Episode 12 RECAP
After the trial, the President of Smile Light Bulbs and his son have a meal together with Jin Woo. They thank Jin Woo for his enthusiastic help. The father feels sorry for his intention of suicide; and his son shares that every morning he is thankful to share another day with his father. The love of the two father and son reminds Jin Woo of his beloved father; once, in the prison, Jin Woo told his dad “you are the best father in the world”.
While eating, the son suddenly asks Jin Woo if he knows why the the other side’s attorney – Park Dong Ho – recommended Jin Woo to him. It’s difficult for the son to understand, and so does Jin Woo.
Dong Ho gets his assistant to find more legal documents about Nam Il Ho and the list of victims from the microwave oven explosion. The assistant is curious for his doing but Dong Ho says he has his reason for doing that.
Among a file of documents, Dong Ho finds a document on Seogwang Group’s factory explosion. After that he calls Detective Bae. Detective Bae shows Dong Ho more detailed documents and tells him that it’s Hong Moo Suk who handles that case. He also reveals that the President of Seogwang Group passed away just before the company launched a huge project; then Nam Il Ho took over the project and established Il Ho Group. Dong Ho raises doubts over the death of Seogwang Group’s President, but Detective Bae says nothing is sure because all remained in the factory is ashes. He also provides Dong Ho an important detail that his father didn’t follow the orders (issued by Nam Il Ho) and fled when he got into the accident.
At Jin Woo’s law office, Jin Woo, In Ah, Manager Yeon and Attorney Song are having a party to celebrate their winning in the last trial. They drink and talk cheerfully together. Manager Yeon urges Attorney Song to leave early before the train stops running (in fact, she wants to save the private space for Jin Woo and In Ah).
In Ah keeps drinking although she gets a little bit drunk. When Jin Woo stops her from drinking more, In Ah tells Jin Woo that he is younger than her, so how he orders her like that. They frolic happily for a while; and In Ah, in her high mood, tells Jin Woo to call her sister. Jin Woo insistently doesn’t do. In Ah squeezes Jin Woo’s neck and finally Jin Woo has to call her “sister” (“noona” ^^).
The guy who follows Dong Ho reports the talk between him and Detective Bae to Joo Il. He tells Joo Il that maybe Dong Ho is investigating his father’s death - somehow related to Nam Il Ho. With a little worry, Joo Il orders the guy to ensure Nam Gyu Man will never hear of that.
Dong Ho and Joo Il meet Chairman Nam in his villa. Dong Ho confidently tells Chairman Nam that he will win the rest of the trial for sure. After leaving, Joo Il asks Dong Ho to spend time for him ‘cause he wants to have a talk with him, but Dong Ho says he’s so busy. Joo Il stops Dong Ho’s way and they end up having dinner together. Dong Ho asks Joo Il when he knew ‘bout Nam Il Ho’s involvement in his (Dong Ho’s) father death. Joo Il just says he knows nothing; and whatever it’ll be, Nam Il Ho is now his master, if Dong Ho wants to touch Nam Il Ho, he has to be step on him first. Dong Ho repeats he considers Joo Il as his father, but now maybe they must go on their separate ways.
Dong Ho comes back to his old law office, where he used to meet Jin Woo a few years ago. He remembers the day when Jin Woo comes here with a lot of money, begging him to save his father.
The father and the son (Min Soo) enter their factory in happiness. The father is so hopeful that the factory will soon operate again and tells his son to clean up the factory. Then Jin Woo comes. The son informs him that his father’s health has gotten better and says thanks to Jin Woo for defending for them. He also provides Jin Woo the employee list as Jin Woo requires.
When In Ah asks Jin Woo why he needs the employee list, he answers that the trivial things are the most important. In Ah laughs when hearing that ‘cause it reminds her the situation when they first met – In Ah misunderstood Jin Woo stole her bag. Jin Woo seems not to know what In Ah is mentioning about. In Ah feels so nervous for him but just tells him to take care of his health.
Detective Gwak tells Prosecutor Hong that he just made a mistake because he’s drunk, and hope to have the forgiving. However, Prosecutor Hong says ruthlessly that he’s already set a replacement for him. Detective Gwak reminds him about his hard working for Gyu Man and the Chairman, but it’s useless when Prosecutor Hong tells him that he volunteers to do that and no one forces him.
Prosecutor Hong meets Gyu Man and mentions about Judge Kang Suk Kyu. He tells Gyu Man that Judge Kang is not convinced with Seo Jae Hyuk’s sentence.
Meanwhile, Judge Kang drops by Jin Woo’s office to ask about Jung Ah college student’s murder case. He supposes the case has something abnormal, from the evidence to the change of the Judge. In Ah tells him that, 4 years ago or even now, she always believes Jin Woo’s father is innocent. She says she did see a video showing the real criminal, so did Jin Woo. Judge Kang also let be known that the real criminal is Nam Gyu Man.
Dong Ho’s assistant informs him about the guy named Keum is following him, while his mind wanders with images of the old accident. Dong Ho tells the assistant that he has to win this trial because Gyu Man starts to have doubt over him.
In Ah’s father brings some pizza to Jin Woo’s office; her mother comes together, too. While Jin Woo and Attorney Song are eating pizza, In Ah has a warm talk with her mom. Her mom tells her that she won’t forgive her if she doesn’t become a skilled and warm-hearted attorney. In Ah cries as she’s so happy that her mom finally understands her.
Dong Ho has found a new piece of information about the Manager of the factory, who has an ill daughter, and he needs a large amount of money to cure her illness. Dong Ho makes an exchange with him: if he agrees to say the information Dong Ho needs for the trial, his daughter will have the free treatment from Il Ho medical center.
Jin Woo consults an expert in physics to have more scientific information that can be useful for the trial. He gets the confirmation from the expert that a microwave has no chance of explosion due to faulty light bulbs.
Gyu Man introduces Joo Il to a partner who proposes their launch of a new light bulbs line. But Detective Gwak interrupts their dinner and threatens Gyu Man that he will reveal all he knows about him.
Seok Joo’s men take Gwak out, tie him with a rope and hang him in the warehouse where he used to force Jin Woo’s father to confess and try to kill Jin Woo. He yells at Gyu Man to get him down, while a hidden camera is recording everything.
In Ah visits Jung Ah’s neighborhood and gets a box with her stuff inside. She finds that the day In Ah died, she had a singing gig, and Soo Beom’s name card slips from one of the pages of her notebook.
After that, In Ah meets Soo Boem to confirm whether he took Jung Ah to the villa for singing four years ago. Soo Boem pretends as if he didn’t know anything. Gyu Man finds them talking to each other and later questions Soo Boem about their conversation content. Soo Boem daren’t mention the Jung Ah murder case, just telling him that she wants to find information about the case of Smile Light Bulbs.
In Ah gives Prosecutor Tak evidence that Jung Ah’s father’s death wasn’t a suicide; and Prosecutor Hong joined to manipulate the investigation. Prosecutor Tak gets furious, saying that he will take down Prosecutor Hong.
Attorney Song and Jin Woo go to the hospital to meet the victims of the microwave incident with the hope that there will be more information about the time when the explosion took place. However, the victim is angry when seeing them and refuses to say anything. On the way out, Jin Woo finds the factory manager together with his ill daughter.
Jin Woo asks the manager if Dong Ho tells him to provide false testimony in the court in exchange for his daughter’s free surgery. Jin Woo promises to pay for his daughter’s surgery and persuades him to consider the effect he may cause to Smile Light Bulbs, where he spent many years working hard and devoting to it.
Gyu Man is participating in a volunteering activity providing meals for the old; and suddenly receives the video showing Gwak being tied in the warehouse. Jin Woo calls Gyu Man and tells him to stay tuned as it’s just the preview. Gyu Man’s anger goes to the roof; he throws down the food tables regardless of what people is looking at.
Jin Woo’s got that video because Detective Gwak gives it to him on his willingness and tells Jin Woo he regrets being Gyu Man’s servant. Now, he and Jin Woo are on the same side.
Attorney Song and In Ah meet with the refrigerator company president. According to what he said, the explosion that year was proved to be caused by another’s company fault, related to wires, but no one gave care to his reports and trusted Il Ho’s allegations.
Prosecutor Tak and some investigators come to Prosecutor Hong’s office and seize his items including the legal documents he has dealt with. Prosecutor Hong is surprised when Prosecutor Tak tells him that he gets the approval from the district prosecutor to conduct investigation on his corruption. Immediately, Prosecutor Hong calls Gyu Man to inform him about that. He also points out that In Ah must have provided the source to Prosecutor Tak. Meanwhile, In Ah and Attorney Song fail to have an appointment with the wires president after hearing they represent for Smile Light Bulbs.
Jin Woo visits the doctor and is advised to take a rest; otherwise, he may burn out. Jin Woo asks the doctor to honestly tell him about his current situation and how much time left. The doctor says his memory may maintain from six months to one year; the more he uses his memory, the faster it will degenerate.
Jin Woo stands alone in a terrace and thinks of the time when he first recognized that his dad didn’t remember him, when he cried a lot and felt disappointed. Now, it’s him, who suffers the threat of losing memory as his father used to. Jin Woo once again feels hopeless and he cries, shouting loud as if he wanted to break his own limit.
At Jin Woo’s office, In Ah is looking for some documents in his secret room, but she does not close the secret door (decorated as bookshelf) when she entering. In Ah hears the sound of steps from the outside and she guesses Jin Woo is back. However, Gyu Man comes in and so surprises with the info-wall. At that time, Jin Woo’s also reaching his office.
I’m quite excited when seeing the first half of this episode. I must call it “the episode of love” where there’re many scenes showing close relationship between Jin Woo and In Ah. To me, they are a nice couple, despite that there’s a difference of age. How cute it’s when In Ah and Jin Woo’re frolicking and In Ah asks Jin Woo to call her “noona”!! <3
Moreover, there’re also other kinds of love spreading over the episode, such as the love between the father (Smile Light Bulbs’s President) and the son, between the father (the factory manager) and the ill daughter, love of warm-hearted people who love justice (Jin Woo, In Ah, Manager Yeon, Attorney Song), the sympathy for those without power (Jin Woo’s taking on the case of Smile Light Bulbs).
I don’t want to mention about Gyu Man ‘cause no words can describe his cruelty and his abuse of power. I just feel worried for In Ah when he knows she wanna go against him.
Poor Jin Woo! Why does he always have to suffer pains? His smiles seem not able to last long; tears come as an unavoidable thing in his fate. Be brave, Jin Woo! Still strongly believe he can make Gyu Man pay a high price before his memory gets lost.
