Remember – War of the Son - Episode 8 Recap
After Ms. Jeonju’s death and the news that Jin Woo involves in that murder, In Ah comes to Jin Woo’s office and meets Jin Woo in his secret room where he keeps all things relevant to the revenge plan. Jin Woo tells In Ah that maybe he falls into the trap set by Nam Gyu Man. Suddenly, at that time, Park Dong Ho is coming from the outside. To prevent Dong Ho from detecting Jin Woo, In Ah instantly turns back to the front office. Then Dong Ho asks In Ah where Jin Woo is and reminds her about her role as a prosecutor. In Ah sturdily answers him that she is going to find who frame Jin Woo and bring them to justice. Dong Ho mentions about the contract signed by him and Jin Woo long time ago. However, Dong Ho was not able to persuade In Ah to trust his words.
At another place, Gyu Man is questioning Detective Park about the escape of Jin Woo. Detective Park promises to catch Jin Woo no matter what it takes. Gyu Man orders him to bring Jin Woo there right away, even show Jin Woo’s body to him if Jin Woo died.
When Detective Park is leaving the room, Dong Ho comes to meet Gyu Man and wants to know whether Gyu Man stands behind what happened to Jin Woo. Dong Ho advises Gyu Man to tell the truth so that he can prepare for things happening later. Nonetheless, Gyu Man denies everything, and threatens Dong Ho with the involvement of Joo Il in the woman murder case.
Currently, Jin Woo becomes one of the most wanted people by the police with the reward of 10 million won. The announcements of hunting him spread rapidly over the media.
Joo Il and Dong Ho have a talk in the car. Joo Il confesses that he helps Gyu Man find someone to kill the woman. Dong Ho aks Joo Il to let him know the reason, because even when they were gangsters, they do not scrap their bottom in such that way. Joo Il tells Dong Ho that it would be better for them if Gyu Man catches Jin Woo; as to Gyu Man, there is nothing called the bottom.
Meanwhile, Jin Woo is still hiding himself and wandering around the streets. He passes by a shop and his eyes are caught by a pair of shoes inside that shop. The shoes stop his steps for a while because they remind him of the pair of shoes that Jin Woo bought for his dad by the money he earned. His dad was so happy with that gift and told him that he would wear them until they were worn out. In return, his dad also bought him a pair of new-style sneakers. Jin Woo was greatly cheered by that present.
Unfortunately, when Jin Woo starts to walk ahead, the police come across him. Jin Woo turns around and runs away as fast as he can. The police run after him. It is a long way run; Jin Woo has to overcome a lot of obstacles on his way. Finally he pretends an old man who is pulling a rickshaw, and the police lose sight of him.
Then Jin Woo comes back to the room 213 with no windows in the corner. He enters the room while thinking of his old room with all the information he had gathered and comparing the situation he’s at the moment, disappointed at how things turned out.
Meanwhile Gyu Man consoles his sister, reminding her that he had warned her to keep away from Jin Soo. She looks dispirited when hearing about Jin Soo and Gyu Man notes that since Jin Woo is associated with murder now, she had better pretend not to know him.
When Jin Woo is standing in the terrace, Manager Yeon suddenly appears in his surprise. He wonders how she knows that place. Yeon answers him with a smile that she knows this room -213 with no windows – is where Jin Woo is. It recalls her old days when working there and how Jin Woo helped her escape from her abusive husband.
The retrial request of Jin Woo is officially rejected by Judge Kang Seok Gyu. At the same time, Gyu Man is informed about that news by Prosecutor Hong Moo Suk and states that all they need to do now is to capture Jin Woo. Gyu Man orders Soo Beom to drive him to meet a person who is looking forward to this happy news.
In order to save the retrial request, In Ah makes an appointment with Judge Kang. She explains that the case of Jin Woo and the murder case of Seochon are two separate issues, and the retrial should be carried on. In Ah also reveals that she becomes a prosecutor because of the trial of Jin Woo’s father four years ago. However, no matter how she said, the result can’t be changed.
The one Gyu Man wants to meet is Jin Woo’s father. Gyu Man visits Jae Hyuk in the prison, trying to mock him by reminding him of his crimes – a murderer who killed a college girl but has totally forgotten what he did. Gyu Man wants to give Jae Hyuk a shock by telling him that his attorney – Jin Woo – is a murderer like him; and it’s impossible to change his fate of a prisoner waiting for death.
At In Ah’s house, her mom advises her to pretend she never knew Jin Woo for he’s a wanted man. She worked hard to become prosecutor and her reputation would turn bad if people find that she has a relationship with a murderer. In Ah does not care what the world thinks and still believes that Jin Woo is innocent. Later, In Ah has a warm talk with her dad. Her father tells her to follow her heart.
When eating pizza, In Ah receives a phone call from Jin Woo.
They meet and Jin Woo quickly explains her in details about how Gyu Man framed him and the fact that the old woman had been killed before he arrived. As Jin Woo says, Gyu Man did that to stop him from requesting the retrial. In Ah thinks he should report it to the police, but Jin Woo supposes it is a chance for them to put them into prison by unreal facts created by them, just like his dad’s case. He decided to find the killer by himself. Then he urgently leaves in the dark.
The next morning, In Ah uncovers that Detective Park is going after her. She comes towards him and complains on how he is doing his duty of catching criminals. Detective Park asks her with doubts whether she is hiding a criminal, but she notices him that he is included in the possible group who set trap for Jin Woo. After that, Detective Park calls Prosecutor Hong right away to notify him the actions of In Ah. Prosecutor Hong demands Detective Park to pay attention to her, ensuring that she will cause no problems to Nam Gyu Man. On the other hand, In Ah is getting stuck on the investigation to find the killer. She retrieves all of the documents relevant to the case.
Manager Yeon tells Attorney Song Jae Ik about Jin Woo’s revenge plan. Though he feels so surprised, he still agrees to support Jin Woo. Following Manager Yeon, Attorney Song arrives at Jin Woo’s place, happily rushes to Jin Woo and gives him a hug. Then Jin Woo asks Attorney Song to prepare for him a cell phone and a car as well as some reporters who are interested in special news. Jin Woo shows them the information about the slush funds of Il Ho Life that he received from Vice President Kang and wants it to be public on air.
Gyu Man receives a call from Jin Woo when drinking with Soo Beom and Judge Seok Gyu. Jin Woo threatens Gyu Man that information of Il Ho Group’s illegal activities is going to be broadcast if he doesn’t submit the killer of that woman by the next day. Gyu Man dares him to do that as it is a way to kill both him and his father. However, Jin Woo has nothing to lose anymore and asks Gyu Man follow his suggestion to avoid an unexpected scandal for the company.
Gyu Man gets so angry after talking over the phone with Jin Woo. He comes to Attorney Park’s office and yells loud. Attorney Park advises Gyu Man to calm down and suggests him to provide the phone records so that he can locate Jin Woo. Gyu Man orders Attorney Park to bring Jin Woo to him right away.
At Chairman Nam’s house, Gyu Man is trying to please his father by reporting some agreements signed by Il Ho Group with other leading partners. Some minutes after Chairman Nam gives compliments for Gyu Man, the information about the slush funds appears on the television that they are watching. Gyu Man promises his father to handle this problem.
When hearing that news, In Ah instantly calls Jin Woo, expressing her worries for him. But Jin Woo keeps on his plan and hangs up the phone without telling her where he is.
Prosecutor Hong calls one of his acquaintances to ask about the reporter who broadcast the news. The man refuses to reveal the reporter’s name for the President wants it to be kept secret. The prosecutor threatens him with an incident associated with his son. Prosecutor Hong asks Detective Park to find out the location of Reporter Jang Hyun Soo and capture Jin Woo by 3:00 pm that day.
The police finally discover the broadcast but Jin Woo is in another room and is going live on his own. Dong Ho is also on the way finding Jin Woo who at the same time arrives at that location. When Jin Woo is broadcasting the news, Dong Ho and his gang enter the room. He takes the documents together with the flash stick back, and takes Jin Woo to somewhere. At that time, Jin Woo’s phone rings. Seeing that it’s In Ah’s call, Dong Ho threw it over the car window.
Gyu Man is informed that Dong Ho has caught Jin Woo. He orders Dong Ho to bring him Jin Woo right away. Although not expecting that situation, Dong Ho has to do what Gyu Man asks but he keeps advising Jin Woo stop being hostile to Gyu Man.
Jin Woo is taken to an abandoned house; his arms are tied to a chair and his mouth is covered with a sticky tape. Gyu Man appears and praises Dong Ho for his performance. After already checking the USB to ensure it has no other copies, Gyu Man annuls it and the paper documents by throwing it into the burning fire.
Then he turns towards Jin Woo, rudely punching him in his face and body. Jin Woo falls down on the floor and faints for a while.
Meantime, in the prison, Seo Jae Hyuk’s pieces of memories turn back with the image of his son and the sentence he was convicted of four years ago. He writes a letter to his son telling that he was not the murderer. Painful tears pour out of his eyes.
Jin Woo wakes up and Gyu Man continues taunting him, saying that this place is where Jin Woo’s father was taken to by Detective Gwak and was forced to write the confession letter. Not only that, Gyu Man reveals he went to see his father before, shaking Jae Hyuk’s mind. Jin Woo yells crazily at Gyu Man with both an extreme anger and a so deep pain.
Gyu Man does not want to hand over Jin Woo to the police; instead, he orders Detective Gwak to handle this. Detective Gwak draws his gun with the aim to put Jin Woo to death. However, Dong Ho quickly realizes and manages to block the cop from firing, urging Jin Woo to run away while he’s holding him.
Jin Woo escapes and goes to In Ah’s place, sitting alone there. Jin Woo expresses a so disappointed look when In Ah finds him. In Ah informs Jin Woo about her investigation. She mentions the only evidence is some sort of red fabric from the victim’s fingernails. Thanks to Jin Woo’s memory, they have additional information for the case. That is a man with a red shirt and a dragon tattoo on his hand walking past him before he went to the woman’s house. He relates the dots with the suspect on the unsolved cases’ files and comes to a conclusion that the killer is in Saerim-dong.
The next day, Dong Ho comes to Chairman Nam’s house and asks to see Gyu Man in private. He makes efforts to explain Gyu Man that killing Jin Woo would causes him many possible troubles so he should let him go. Gyu Man confirms that he has considered it carefully. He emphasizes his role as the decision maker in this matter and asks Dong Ho to leave.
In Ah is ready to ask Jin Woo how they should proceed now that they know about the killer but she finds he has fallen asleep. She gazes at him for a while before covering him with a blanket. The next morning she wakes up but Jin Woo has already gone and left her a note apologizing for taking her cellphone.
In Ah, Jin Woo and Dong Ho are conducting their investigation at the same time to catch the killer. After a few attempts, In Ah manages to locate the killer and keeps track of him. Unfortunately, the killer recognizes it and uses a stone to hit her in the head. Jin Woo feels something bad happened with In Ah and Dong Ho also arrives at that time.
